There has always been a debate arguing weather drugstore or designer makeup is better. Well, I am on team drugstore. Here’s why:
First of all, the price. Who wants to pay $30 for a lipstick that claims to be long-lasting but comes off after you take a drink of water? I have tried both high end and drugstore long-lasting lipstick, and every time, the drugstore brand wins. You can get a great product and even save $20. Currently, my favorite drugstore lipstick is Maybelline SuperStay Matte.IT IS AMAZING! My lips don’t dry out and it comes in so many different colors. My whole family dances, so we have tried so many lipsticks looking for something that will last for the whole competition day. I promise you, drugstore makeup is just as good.
I am all about convenience. I don’t want to have to make a trip into a busy mall department store when I could go to any drugstore and find something that works just as well. Being from a small town, the department store makeup was not always an option for us. Drugstore makeup is just overall more convenient and accessible. Think about it, you can buy your milk, eggs and makeup, all in the same place. No more trips out of your way just to get some waterproof mascara. And now with the online shopping capabilities, you can get your cheap makeup fix within just a couple of days.
Risk is not my friend. Quite frankly, I don’t think it is anyone’s friend. Drugstore makeup is less risky. If you don’t end up liking the product you purchased, you are only out a few dollars rather than twenty or thirty. For a person on a budget, drugstore makeup is the way to go. Plus, many makeup companies have gracious return policies, so if you don’t like what you’re using, take it back and get something else you could enjoy.
Less is more. Buying drugstore makeup causes you to be able to have more makeup for less money. You want that purple eyeshadow? You can buy it because it is only a few dollars! I know people who match their eyeshadow to their outfit every day. That could potentially be a lot of colors to match to, but it’s not a pricy problem if you purchase inexpensive drugstore makeup.
More brands in one place. A naturalist and a beauty queen, or a naturalist beauty queen, can both shop at the same store. Drugstore makeup offers multiple brands to choose from in one place. You can get a natural, low coverage foundation and a shimmery bronzing powder in the same isle. I am a makeup brand mixer, so having multiple brands of makeup to choose from one place is huge for me.
